2 Sep. - Fort William
Image: Grey skies in Fort William
'Twas a day of pain + teeth; a day of rain + cups of tea.
Diclofenac, Meloxicam, Ibuprofen + Paracetamol; oatcake + sinensis.
Rain, mist, wind + cold.
Ben Nevis stayed hidden.
Glen Nevis unwalked.
Cow Hill not circled.
Steall Falls not approached.
But Cameron scarf acquired.
Ordnance coasters four-square.
Books read + bodies rested.
Clothes laundered + weather maps consulted.
And always, from our corner tower, high above High Street, the view.
The view.
The Free Church stonework.
Crannog Seafood's red tile roof.
The restless waters of Loch Linnhe rising + falling with the tides.
Notes: Our scheduled day to approach Ben Nevis and walk the Glen, but B awoke with a stupendous toothache and the weather came down in true Scottish fashion. We found four drinks coasters which combine to create a segment of the wonderful Ordnance Survey map of Fort William and Ben Nevis.
