4 Oct. - Dartmoor

Over the moor, take me to the moor.
High, bleak, windy, wet + beautiful.
Dartmoor - brown bracken + lush, green grass.
Dartmoor - black-faced sheep, 'saddled' cattle + wild ponies.
Dartmoor - a damp + chill wind blows strong from the south.
Dartmoor - surrounded by silhouetted tors, all stacked and weathered.
Dartmoor - lines, circles + solitary standing stones; north, south, east + west.
Dartmoor - ancient stone bridges of immense, flat granite slabs.
Dartmoor - sudden descents into deep valleys, past high hedges.
Dartmoor - climbing again, behind slow tractors, heavy laden.
Dartmoor - the ground, sodden under foot, trod for millennia.
Dartmoor - but briefly glimpsed as we traversed, west to east, but not easily forgotten - it will long haunt my memories.
Notes: Roadworks forced a circuitous path, but our will was set upon visiting the clapper bridge.
