Glorious, Georgian Bath, nestled in its valley +, again, river encircled - the Avon - heading slowly west to join the Severn not far south of the Wye, opposite.
Three great rivers of repute conferring with their currently swollen liquid voices.
Being a 'faux' confection, the bulk of 'recent' Bath - all Georgian stonework, multi-pane windows, plus rank + file chimneys - has a striking similarity which colludes with the tangle of old streets to create a confusing maze for the visitor - every corner perhaps another, perhaps the same, we just passed?
But its grandeur persists despite the faux + mayhem + crowds of tourists + groups of pretty boys enjoying their weekends. A town perhaps easy to grow fond of + grow up in - if one could but afford to?!
Notes: Our first day in Bath was on a Saturday and all the locals were out in addition to the visitors, but it was a happy and vibrant mass of humanity, not a bothersome mob. We spent the day wandering the streets visiting the usual suspects - Victoria Park, Royal Crescent, The Circus, Pulteney Bridge, Beazer Maze, etc.
