A good day for a sandwich in the garden.

The village of Sandwich, in Kent County - The Garden of England - is yet another history-filled delight, fronting its quay on the River Stour.

A visit to White Mill Rural Heritage Centre revealed once again the knowledge + skill + craftsmanship of our forebears, plus the passion + dedication of those who wish to preserve such important sites.

The task is vast but the reward if they manage to get the sweeps catching the wind + the stones turning + grinding once more will be immeasurable in any financial terms - being entirely a reward of wholesale community joy at seeing this grand + complex giant of a machine once more come to life and indeed provide that essential sustenance of life - flour for the daily bread.

How very appropriate that this is Sandwich!

Notes: The White Mill Rural Heritage Centre is only open to the public for a few hours on limited days but well worth including in your schedule. We also enjoyed a stroll along the Saxon Shore Way over The Royal St George's Golf Club links to Sandwich Bay and concluded our day with some fine Shepherd Neame (Britain's Oldest Brewer) Kentish ales at The Market Inn, opposite the beautiful Guildhall.
